We barely use coal, even with Trumps claims to bring back the industry. It’s a dying industry because it just can’t keep up, not because of its pollutants. Oil is almost exactly as bad for the environment, but it’s still used because nothing can surpass its efficiency.
Which is interesting for the normal home owner who has more facade than window surface. In comes the barely mentioned dye sensitized solar cell foil. More lightweight, more flexible, and far less toxic in production than silicon based hard solar panels.
They can be attached to the existing walls. And they generate electricity even on clouded days. Just daylight is enough.
